On Sat 15th Oct the first team drew 2-2 away at league leaders Comberton Utd - both sides coming into the game boasting 100% league records this season. Milton started brightly holding most of the possession in the opening quarter of an hour and on 17 minutes came the breakthrough - after good combination play down the left from Mark Abbs & Callum Osborne, Dylan Lomas fired home from just inside the box. Five minutes later the same player headed in from close range for 2-0. The home side rarely troubled us, with Luke Thurlbourne controlling the backline despite carrrying a knock, apart from one rising shot on the half hour mark. HT 0-2. Comberton raised their game in the second half and after the hour mark started committing more men forward and in so doing restricting Milton to counter attacks. In the 67th minute Tom Joyce controlled the ball well just inside the box and placed a good shot in the bottom corner past a despairing Badcock in the Milton goal. Just 3 minutes later Giorgio Favarvlo hit a cross cum shot from outside the box, on the right hand side, which evaded Badcock and sailed into the far top corner for the equaliser. In the last quarter of an hour the game really opened up as the players tired in the heat and both managers urged their teams to go for the winner. Despite one or two near misses at each end the gamed ended in a draw, which was a fair result but rather disappointing for us having lead for the best part of an hour. The truth is we didn't do enough in the second half to warrant the win. Still other results went our way and there is plenty of reason for optimism that we can mount a serious promotion challenge. One would expect both sides to be in the promotion shake up at the end of the season based on this evidence/form.
